Has anyone managed to kill the Giganticus Lupicus in Arah explorable? It has to be one of the most poorly designed fights I’ve seen in the game. It’s seems nigh impossible to do anything worth shit once you hit phase 2 unless you’re ranged and even then you spend most of your time dodging everything.

I see people complaining about lack of endgame… Which is pretty much every launch MMO ever, and I’m definitely not the sort with an attention span to get max level any time soon, but what I’m wondering is do you think the devs will eventually change that and add more endgame stuff for max level players later on, or will they have very little motivation to do that until the next major expansion comes out since it’s not subscription based? Probably the main factor I’m wondering before I buy, maybe some of you that had experience with the company in GW1 or other of their games might know more than I do.

There’s plenty of endgame right now with 8 explore mode dungeons with unique boss encounters, 3 modes each except for Arah which has 4. 25 total ‘endgame’ dungeons, even though a good number are broken or overtuned
just because you have to grind them for the gear doesn’t mean it’s somehow ok to not do them then complain about no endgame. GW1 shipped with only Underworld and Fissure as the endgame areas, and it’s not like you committed to farming a full set of fissure gear if you ran around in them a couple of times
But yeah we’ll definitely see more content. GW1 added Sorrow’s Furnace after a year for free, which would basically be $10 DLC today most likely. We’ll see more maps, more zones, more dungeons, more minigames and shit

What dungeon builds work for level 80 Mesmer?
I’m level 58 right now and I’ve mostly been going sword + focus / staff with Knight’s and Valkyrie gear (power/precision/toughness/crit damage). In standard PvE I spend most of my time in melee, while in dungeons I do about half and half (though some bosses just don’t let me melee).
What works at 80? Is power/precision sword/staff Mesmer still the best option? I ask now (when I’m not even 80 yet) just because I like to plan ahead.

Well, that’s good.
The guy I wanted to make is very dark-skinned with old man scarred face, bald, and has a white beard. Gonna get him the pirate karma weapons, then get some pirate armor and transmute it.
Seems like a pretty unique Thief. I just didn’t want to saturate the player base if there were already too many Thieves running around, though. It’s healthy for teams to have variety.

Is it just me or is the Human Starter zone weird, play a norn, leveling is all equal and fun, no mobs are 3 or 4 or even 5 levels higher than me at any point and usually complete zones at the level it says, or even higher. Next character is also a Norn. Decide to make a different race because change, make a human, suddenly 100% the zone as a lvl 12 and completed all story for my level and even 2 levels above. By the time I finished the Norn area starter area I was 16. Now I have to go to another starter zone and 100% it because OCD.

This is sorta correct, you can actually get rid of all those cons by combo’ing. Example, on a warrior I use a Greatsword and Mace in pvp, Mace stun, change to greatsword 100 blades and they can’t dodge unless they have a break stun skill. 90% of the time they don’t. I have 3 charges (sorta) whirlwind skill on greatsword, actual charge and mace+shield stun which partially is a charge. I have 2 stuns, and 10 seconds of invicibility, endure pain + block + second block + 2 rolls.

it’s extremely difficult if you’re nowhere near level 80
if you’re at 80 you can do it in 15-20 minutes easily. xp gain is enormous
any given 80 event will yield 18k xp on gold, harvesting yields 1200xp, etc. It’s actually quite hard to not get the achievement if you have any sense of self preservation at 80

There are two events running in cycle at the south of Bloodtide Coast: camp defence and escort. There’s virtually no chance of dying and pace is fast enough that you’ll get achievement for repeating them 3 or 4 times. Had no problem doing my survivor there after game decided to crash at 97400/100k.

Actually I play a necromancer and we got shitgiggles for breaking stuns, but there is a permament slot for spectral armor for me. Nothing is funnier than some warrior charging you and throwing 100blades while you just casually walk away from all the damage.

Like in Lornar’s pass, there is that whole chain of events about the summoning stone. I found the banter between all the characters amusing.

Found using staff in one set and duel wielding daggers in the other to be OP as fuck. Staff has the long range and the aoe, daggers have the insane single target close range dps. It’s pretty sweet.
Also, I’m now level 14, I’ve completely 100% finished queensdale, and my next story quest is level 16. Am I meant to make my way to another area without being lead there by a quest? Don’t really know what to expect and I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

Same basic formula as WoW, but geared with an eye towards avoiding grind and simplifying mechanics.
For instance, you don’t need to pick up quests any more. You enter an area where an event (GW2′s "quest"-equivalent) is happening, and as you help out, a little bar starts to complete. Once you’ve completed it, you don’t have to return to a quest-giver to turn the quest in–you get your reward in the mail.
Or, another example, entering instanced PvP (think "battlegrounds") gives you a full set of maxed out gear, puts you at max level, and unlocks every skill for you, so that there’s no need to grind out gear if you want to be competitive. You can jump in at level 1, if you want.
In general though, it plays similarly to any other hotkey MMO, the systems have just been retooled.

At least in other MMOs that grinding for low quality mats is quick because you outlevel the mobs, but here it just becomes tedious again.
I do like how you can discover your own recipes, that’s neat.

And when they added MC? The attunement for that wasn’t because they felt it added to the fucking experience. It was because they wanted to slow people the fuck down.
And more or less requiring a shit ton of fire resist gear (at the cost of being, you know, good at ANYTHING else) wasn’t for flavor. It was to force people to have to grind FR gear forever as a stopgap.
While they started producing better content later on, everything pre TBC was gear checks just to slow people from blowing through shit in the first month.
RIght before TBC was an excellent example of them trying to force a grind while they scrambled for new content. You never ran straight into AQ20 or AQ40. You went through a funnel of content to gear up. You ran BRD to gear up for Onyxia. You had people farming Thorium Brotherhood rep for FR gear. You did the attunement. Then you did MC. From there it was AQ 20. Then you did AQ 40. Then you walked into Nazzramas and got your shit pushed in and went back to doing AQ because TBC was a few months away and why bother?
When TBC launched none of that shit mattered anymore. The first zone in Outlands was replacing your EPIC gear from endgame. So after that people leveled, skipped the old content, and then started all over but this time it was 3-4 different 10 mans to gear up for the big raids.
GW probably won’t do that at all. If they add new content you’ll be able to go in there at a fresh 80. Though the smart thing to do to expand the game’s life is to leave the level at 80 and just make new content balls hard without Exotic shit from current endgame.

Don’t listen to those retards. I went guardian to level 30 and then switched to Ele just for kicks, now I’m level 60 with my Ele and having a blast. I decided to go with Scepter/Dagger. Great survivability as well as damage. I went with a Condition Damage build, most other builds will stack power though…and just a tad of Vit and Toughness. Though if you just go 30 Earth/Water you don’t have to worry.

Is there a tier list of classes for PVE? It sound stupid but I want a class where just leveling isn’t going to be a constant struggle against my classes shortcomings. Right now I’m playing an Elementalist and it’s strong and fun but I’m sick and I grow tired of all of the element switching and kiting and ground targeting and everything at the same time. I just end up getting tried(physically/mentally, not bored) too quickly and have to quit for a while.
I would play a Guardian but I’m saving that for when my friend can buy the game. How are Necro and Mesmer? I like the light armors. Engineer seems like it would be a step in the wrong direction and I keep hearing how Thief requires a lot of work so I’ll probably avoid that as well.

I did some dungeons, but I fail to see why people are complaining about 1hitkills and no-windup for them. It seems to me the bosses spend too much time preparing their moves actually. A second of charging up with an obivous graphic telling you so, it’s not even an issue to dodge.
I died more from the thrash mobs than the actual bosses. That fault is mine, I though trash mobs were thrash, but they also need maxium effort and dodges and boons to deal with.

For weapon smithing, focus on sheilds as much as you can. They are immensely cheaper than anything else to make. Like, half the materials cheaper.
Once you work into Iron, they don’t even give you the basic forms of items anymore. You don’t get a basic blade + hilt = sword. You have to make everything. And the Iron items do not work with lower leveled stat boosts like malign, so you can’t use that in discovery.

Honestly I think my biggest issue as a fucking Elementalist is our downed.
Without team intervention we’re basically a fucking free stomp unless they down us from range and it’s a 1v1(rarely happens)
EVERY class has a way to prevent that immediate stomp and buy themselves some time.
Elementalists get jack fucking shit. The root is atrocious and vapor form is on a like 4 second cooldown before you can use it, worst off for some fucking reason you can still be chilled and move at snail’s pace.
If they make our downed on par with other classes I probably wouldn’t have as many issues with the class.

You put up frenzy and bullcharge me. (also bullsharge and the shield stun skill have a nice 360 degree dance before rushing in, so if it’s 1vs1 no one gets hit by it) Then I stunbreak and dodge.
I got hit by less than 1% of my hp, you’re swinging in the air while I can shoot you for double damage.
Really, anyone competent in pvp runs atleast one stunbreak skill. Just to deal with you 100blade warriors which were overpowered in the beta.

I’ll be honest, the camera + mouse controls in this are so wonky, especially if you’re used to WASD and mouse controls form every other MMO, that I’ve taken to just using the mouse for everything and only using WASD for combat dodging/maneuvering.
It’s to unwieldy to do traditional controls effectively.

It runs real strange for me in places. Some work perfectly, like sPvP, all PvE areas except Queensdale and Ashford, LA.
And then some run like utter shit – like The Grove or – no idea why – Ascalon Catacombs. The latter drives me crazy the most – there is fucking nothing in that dungeon, some ghosts and rubble and that’s it. I honestly don’t see the reason why it runs at 15 FPS on any settings.

The skills thieves get while downed are shit. Never saved my life unless I’ve had lots of bros with me. The cloak last all of 2 seconds, the teleport has a really short range and wont stop someone from turning around and continuing to smack me with a greatsword.

Stat spread for CoF light armor which is the only explorable being farmed on my server for some reason.
Best stats for staff ele? I’m thinking power/precision/condition damage would be strongest given I keep bleeds and burning up a lot. Not sure if I’ll miss the little vit my current gear has though.
Is it worth trying to be tanky in harder explorables?

80 here. the game is worth 60 if you enjoy leveling up and enjoying shit content like that. the endgame is non existent and will probably be like this forever. leveling was not an enjoyable experience really, but if you are into that sort of thing. think single player rpg, minus the constant storyline

I also drop my burst flame field from my Warrior Long bow on them when they go down. For some reason people just absolutely shit themselves and leave the person in the field for dead.
