For me it's this.
I never gave a shit about the comic books or the western animation because It was all sterile sanitized and horrifically formulaic. If you seen one superhero you've seen them all.
It's the corporate franchise handling that turned the characters into a brand like coca cola.
Of course Batman isn't going to get anything done he's been fighting for 60 years already and they intend for him to fight forever. To end the story would be to slaughter the golden goose. and it's all so pointless and shallow.
The avengers had my attention for a moment because they actually dared to make the heroes lose and somebody even died. I could not believe it, is this an actual fucking story happening right there? a real writing? Then Endgame is like SIKE NOBODY DIED EVERYTHINGS FINE
Yeah it was the first and the last time I consciously engaged with the western media. Almost tricked me.
